Styling Throughout Your Years

Styling Throughout Your Years

As a child, when you get your first diary, you write in it every day. It might be a single sentence with “today was boring, nothing happened”. Or, it could be about how Stacey (we all had a Stacey right?!) was hogging the swing at recess.

As we get older, if we choose to continue with our journaling, entries are often when big life changes happen, when we travel or because we feel the need to let some emotions out.

But; what happens when our memories are a little grey, when you and a friend recall the same event completely differently, or, when we simply want to reminisce.

We see homes and the wares that fill it, to be the same.

Home Styling Through the Ages: How Our Spaces Evolve With Us

As a kid, you save and collect everything. From the first picked flower you tried to press, to the small toys in Kinder Surprises. If you were like us, your rooms were quite the mix bag.

Fast-forward to moving out of home and into your first place; your joy of collecting may remain but now you're adding fun homewares with hilarious sayings, funky partnered linens, or maybe even a few beer coasters.

As the years go on and into adulthood, while your taste and style will likely evolve and change, it starts to become more about the way your space makes you feel. Of course, still a wonderful, eclectic expression of you in that season.

Whether you're currently looking at buying your first home, are renovating your current home, or are looking to move out of that share-house and into your own rental, consider how you want to feel in that space, and how the design can help achieve that.

For example, you may want clean and modern home décor, because; while trends say this isn't "popular" anymore, we don't follow trends here. What we do follow for this decorating style is creating a minimal home that still has the ability to play with colours, textures and showcase unique pieces without the loud.

Or, you may want a more modern art-deco style space; with striking mixed metals and objects that are understated but will definitely be conversation starters for those dinner parties and future-hosting events you can't wait to start having.

Maybe your new home is along the beach and you want to evoke that calm, meditative feeling a coastal home gives when you first step foot into it. Almost like you can feel the the ocean breeze on your face and the sound of waves in the background.

No matter the direction you choose to take in your next space, remember those feelings of joy, excitement and pure calmness as a kid - perfectly content in sitting and playing in your bedroom because it was full of all your favourite things
