Accessories For Your Home
Share
When we think about styling a home, inside or out, we often start with the big pieces - your couch, dining table, coffee table, occasional chairs, and anything that anchors the function of a space.
Once those pieces are in, we look to the hardware, accessories and soft furnishings that bring the room together. This is where, we believe, the opportunity really begins: the chance to tell your story, bring your home to life, and express your unique touches across multiple layers and quiet details.
Often dismissed as “nick-nacks” or “fillers”, these smaller homewares and décor pieces are so much more than that, but only when they’re chosen with intention and with consideration for the rhythm of your home and family.
Choosing The Right Home Accessories
It’s easy to get swept up in trends, what friends have in their homes, or what you see in magazines and online publications (hello, Pinterest). What makes a home truly unique and reflective of you is the pause you take before purchasing something new.
This doesn’t require overthinking, it simply means understanding the style you want to achieve and having a sense of the mood or inspiration behind it.
Not every item needs its own deep meaning, but it should reflect what you want your home to embody: the design, the feeling, the atmosphere.
Do you want calm neutrals? Do you love colour and brightness? Do you prefer dark and moody? Knowing this gives you a compass for future purchases and pieces you’ll keep and live with for years to come.
Placement of Home Décor & Accessories
A coffee table, bookshelf or buffet are the obvious starting points for showcasing your favourite décor, but there are so many more places to play with.
For pieces you want guests to notice, the ones that spark conversation, think about the rooms they naturally gravitate toward: your living or entertaining areas, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, outdoor spaces or even a cosy sitting room.
Surfaces at eye level, or anywhere a guest may place a glass of wine or reach for a canapé, are ideal locations for meaningful home accessories - as long as they feel intentionally placed, not simply dropped for the sake of filling a space.
And don’t forget your walls. Whether it’s a custom shelf or a small gallery wall, your walls can completely change the atmosphere of a room and invite family and friends to quietly read the story your home is telling.
Styling Your Home Accessories
You’ve found a piece you love - now you get to style it.
We’re big believers in choosing the piece first, and styling it after. Your home shouldn’t be a set-and-forget backdrop to daily life. It should feel fluid, organic, and moved around often.
Whether you’re making room for something new, reshaping a layout that no longer feels right, or simply wanting to experiment, movement keeps your home feeling alive.
Our biggest tip when styling décor is to think about height, texture and size. We love mixing materials, brass with wood, soft linens with leather, terracotta with natural fibres.
Height and scale are just as important. A group of pieces all the same height, lined up in a row, will always feel flat, no matter how beautiful they are. Varying the height of pieces creates depth and intention.
Use stacks of books to build height for smaller objects, bring bookends and your favourite titles into living spaces rather than keeping them confined to a shelf, layer keyrings or charms inside a leather organiser, or hang art and objects of different sizes together on a wall.
